We will go to Yanagawa whici is a nostalgic town with the vestiges of its days as a castle town. Yanagawa Castle was built around 1588, and called the “Water Castle” at that time. The reason for this was the water-filled moats crisscrossing the town. A moat is a channel built around a castle to keep out enemies and animals, and often filled with water. Yanagawa river cruising takes place in these moats in small boats. In spring the cherry blossoms are beautiful, and in summer the irises bloom, for a thoroughly charming river cruise that is like a Japanese version of Venice.

After river cruise, we will visit the Kitahara Hakushuke and Hakushu memorial hall . Hakushu Kitahara who was a famous poets in Japan. He was born in 1885 in Yanagawa. We will visit the Hakushu's birth place which built in Meiji era.

Next stop will be, Dazaifu Tenman-gu. The shrine is housed in extensive grounds covering an area of 3,000 acres. The tranquil garden is planted with 6,000 plum trees and the shrine itself is built on the grave of Sugawara no Michizane, venerated throughout Japan as Tenjin, the Shinto kami of scholarship. Michizane is celebrated as a man pure in heart and deed, and after his death he was deified and worshipped as a god. After the Shrine will stop at local souvenir shop and go back to the port.
